US daily coronavirus back above 50k

The US new daily coronavirus cases topped 50,000 once again, after a couple days below that threshold.

Texas, California and Florida each recorded more than 6,000, with Texas accounting for more than 9,000 new cases.

New cases fell below the 50,000 level on Saturday and Sunday likely because of the long Independence Day weekend as well as the cyclical reduction on weekends.

The seven-day running average topped 51,000, the 29th day setting a new high.
