More than 150,000 Americans have died from the coronavirus, according to the database compiled by The New York Times.
With 21 states are currently in the so-called “red zone,” meaning they’re seeing significant spikes in new cases. Based on the Times database, the US has averaged more than 1,000 fatalities per day from coronavirus over the past week.
Since the US recorded its first death from COVID in March, the nation hit the 50,000 milestone April 27 and 100,000 fatalities one month later.
On February 26, when the US had 15 recorded cases, President Trump declared we “have close to zero cases within a few days.”
