Cook Political Report House editor Dave Wasserman has called the two major primary races (or maybe the only two contested ones) in Massachusetts Tuesday. Rep Joe Kennedy III was challenging incumbent Senator Ed Markey and now has the ignominious distinction of being the first ever Kennedy to lose an election in the state after over seven decades. Sucks for him. Markey branded himself as a Bernie acolyte and may or may not already have a Ben & Jerry’s flavor named after him… National Zero will follow up on that matter.
House Ways and Means Chairman Richard Neal fought off a challenge from AOC-backed Holyoke mayor Alex Morse, and there ways some serious controversy in the race – basically Republican-style shenanigans involving Morse’s consensual relationships with former students at UMass Amherst (where Morse taught as an adjunct) having been “investigated” by the student newspaper based on questionable tips from the college’s Dem association – subterfuge alleged by Glenn Greenwald at The Intercept to be rewarded with internships on Neal’s staff. Richard Neal sounds like a fucking prick who would be right at home in the GOP.
