General Motors will transition its worldwide production of vehicles away from gas and diesel powered engines to entirely clean energy vehicles by 2035, the Wall Street Journal reports.
GM President and CEO Mary Barra made the announcement today via social media, committing the world’s fourth largest automaker to an environmentally friendly path for their products.
“General Motors is joining governments and companies around the globe working to establish a safer, greener and better world,” said Barra. “We encourage others to follow suit and make a significant impact on our industry and on the economy as a whole.”
In an earlier social media post, GM outlined its vision to transform its entire product line to a technologically-advanced, integrated system using a “science-based approach” to get the company and its products to a carbon-neutral footprint.
