In newly unsealed documents, a man arrested for his role in the January 6th domestic terror attack at the Capitol told friends that the attack was “all planned out” and a second siege was planned for January 17th, according to reporting from The Daily Beast.
John Douglas Wright of Canton, Ohio messaged friends throughout his participation in the January 6th attack, telling them to look for him in the crowd: “I’M IN THE RED HOODIE.” He also hinted that members of the crowd would be following members of Congress home on a return trip: “I THINK WE NEED TO MAKE HOME VISITS.”
When a friend suggested heading off people fleeing the scene through tunnels under the Capitol, Wright responded that the attack was “all planned out.” He told another friend, “IT’S FUCKING WARTIME. NO MORE PROTESTING.”
Upon returning home, according to the unseal documents, Wright participated in a comment board of a local news site, posting that another attack on the Capitol was planned for January 17th. “It’s not about overthrowing the government. It’s about creating a new party,” he posted. “We run this country, not them. They work for us.”
Wright also claimed that during what he called peaceful protest, cops attempted to harm the insurrectionists, saying he got “beaten up by cops.”
