Sorry, Peter Doocy. International efforts to broker a ceasefire in the ongoing violence in Gaza and Israel have resulted in an agreement to stop attacks as of 2 a.m. (2300 GMT Thursday) Friday local time.
The Associated Press reports that Israel’s Security Cabinet issued a unilateral ceasefire after heavy pressure from the United States to stop military operations, which have resulted in at least 230 Palestinians, including more than 60 children, killed in Gaza and the West Bank, with 12 Israelis killed.
In 11 days of fighting, Israel launched hundreds of airstrikes and invaded the area with ground troops, destroying 60 miles of tunnels and more than 90 rocket launchers. Hamas reportedly launched more than 4,000 rockets at Israel over that time.
