Anti-establishment Congresswoman Lauren Boebert (Q-Colo) failed to report nearly one million dollars in income her husband received as a consultant to an energy company in 2019 and 2020, recently filed documents show, the Associated Press reports.
Jayson Boebert, who has an arrest record for exposing himself and for assaulting his then-girlfriend Lauren in 2004, made $478,000 in 2020 and $460,000 in 2019 which Boebert did not list on her election disclosure forms or Congressional financial statements. The only income Lauren Boebert reported over that time came from her weapons-themed restaurant Shooters located in Rifle, Colorado.
Jayson Boebert reportedly worked for a company called Terra Energy Productions, which is a fossil fuel prospecting company. There is no “Terra Energy Productions” listed as a corporation in Colorado, but Houston-based Terra Energy Partners has a number of projects in Boebert’s district and claims on its website that it is “one of the largest producers of natural gas in Colorado.”
The failure to disclose could lead to a plethora of ethics charges against Boebert, who sits on the House Natural Resources Committee, responsible for overseeing fossil fuel licensing processes.
“Mr. Boebert has worked in energy production for 18 years and has had Boebert Consulting since 2012,” Ben Stout, the congresswoman’s deputy chief of staff, said in an email. “For any other questions regarding the congresswoman’s finances, I’d refer you to the disclosure she filed.”
Boebert’s disclosure form reports that her restaurant lost $143,000 in 2019 and $226,000 in 2020.
