Several Trump 2020 lawyers who argued mostly unsuccessfully to have Pennsylvania mail-in ballots tossed out in the tipping-point state of the election that saw the end of the MAGA Reich are now fighting on opposite sides of the contested GOP Senate primary count and upcoming recount, making sure their respective candidates’ mail-in ballots get tabulated and/or the other guy’s get thrown out, Politico reports. The Trump-backed Oz is hanging on to a microscopic lead of 1,097 votes (down from 2,672 on Wednesday morning) but there’s seriously no telling where it could go or how many mail-in ballots remain to be counted. Ballots could theoretically be delivered to election officials this afternoon and still be tabulated given Pennsylvania’s three-day grace period on late-arriving mail-in votes (something MAGA assholes still claim is unconstitutional).
What Trump minions James Fitzpatrick and Shohin Vance on Team Oz and James Schultz, David Urban, Wally Zimolong, and Mike Roman on Team McCormick can look forward to is billing their respective client campaigns for an actual contested election where every ballot really does matter toward the outcome, in contrast to getting humiliated and laughed out of court repeatedly like in November and December of 2020 because they couldn’t show any evidence of fraud. Even the one case that Trump’s lawyers scored a victory on in Pennsylvania (the only one nationwide in 65+ lawsuits filed by Trump and pals) didn’t actually subtract from Biden’s 80,000-plus vote win because the few hundred ballots in question had already been separated from tabulation.
These legal teams are especially lucky the assholes in the Republican-dominated state legislature haven’t done anything to allow election officials to process ballots received prior to election day, forcing them to continue laboring for days to open envelopes and tabulate votes just like they did in November 2020. Otherwise the race might’ve already been decided by now or at least the recount would already be underway, depriving the lawyers of precious, overpriced billable hours.
