Dr. Anthony Fauci, the director of the National Institute for Allergy and Infectious Diseases, announced that he will retire before the end of President Joe Biden’s first term in office, CNN reports.
“I have said that for a long time,” the 81-year-old Fauci said on CNN Monday morning. “By the time we get to the end of Biden’s first term, I will very likely (retire).”
Fauci joined the NIH during the Reagan administration and has served seven different administrations, only one of which cast aspersions on his expertise because a reality game show host believed he knew more about infectious disease that a medical doctor.
