Wildfires are torching large areas of land on every continent except Antarctica, with the American West seeing devastating a blaze in Yosemite National Park that has grown to more 14,000 acres, Reuters reports.
As NASA’s Fire Map shows, fires in central Africa affect more than 60% of the land, while areas of South America have been hit with hundreds of small fires throughout the Amazon rainforest, some natural and some manmade.
In Greece, four major fires have forced thousands of people to evacuate islands. Elsewhere in Europe where record high temperatures have already impacted air quality, fires have hit the western Italian coast as well as northern France.
