This is how crazy Republicans have become: “Falling didn’t kill him,” Republican Minnesota gubernatorial candidate Scott Jensen would claim if he extended his above-stated theory to gravity. “Falling never killed anyone. People can fall from great heights and survive. The thing that kills someone who’s falling isn’t the falling; it’s trying to stop them suddenly with, y’know, the ground.”
Jensen claims that putting Covid patients on ventilators–which he claims was overdone at the start of the pandemic, and which he says led to excessive deaths–fails to note that those patients would have died without being put on a ventilator. So while 80% of patients put on a ventilator died at the beginning of the pandemic, it’s likely nearly 100% would’ve died if none of them were. Here’s the scary thing: Jensen is a medical doctor, and he doesn’t understand causality.
