Russian-supporting local officials in occupied areas of Ukraine say Ukrainian forces have launched an offensive in the southeastern Zaporizhzhia region, home of Europe’s largest nuclear power plant which has been the subject of speculation about potential sabotage, the New York Times reports.
Military analysts suggest Ukrainian forces are trying to force their way to the Sea of Azov, reaching an area south of Orikhiv, a Ukrainian-held town of 14,000, about 60 miles north of the Azov on the south side of the Dnipro River. A local official observed the Ukrainian offensive using German Leopard tanks and American-made Bradley Fighting Vehicles supplied by the West.
