A Connecticut judge on Wednesday ordered a new Dem primary election in the Bridgeport mayoral race after candidate John Gomes brought forth some pretty credible and damning evidence of ballot box stuffing to rig the September 12th primary for Dem incumbent Joe Ganim, the AP reports.
Confusingly, the re-do primary election is scheduled for after next week’s general election – in which Gomes is also on the ballot as an independent. How that’s actually supposed to work in practice we have no idea, though Gomes’s lawyer proposed to the judge the re-do would only be necessary if Ganim won the general. What would happen next is again a black box as we don’t know if that primary winner is then the mayor or if there’s another general election.
The specifics don’t really matter however since the MAGA chodes already had all the “facts” they needed in the “surveillance videos show possible ballot stuffing” part of the AP’s headline. It’s been a while since we had any fresh stories of election fraud in local contests that the 2020 truthers could use to “prove” their fantasies of a massive conspiracy to steal the presidency from their Orange Overlord. The stuff they had was getting pretty stale, but now this Bridgeport shitshow hits all too close to the narrative in Dinesh D’Souza’s widely-derided “2000 Mules” in which he claimed that five weeks’ worth of cellular GPS tracking data proved that “traffickers” were dumping massive quantities of ballots into drop boxes in the Atlanta area in the run-up to the 2020 election.
It was all bullshit to begin with. More importantly, D’Souza did not offer up any reason for why the ballots themselves might’ve been actually invalid. Ballots in Georgia were subjected to rigorous scrutiny by election officials in the 2020 election and no evidence of any such conspiracy was ever found. Some of his fanboys tried to push shit like “Oh well the ballots were definitely tampered with after the harvesters collected them” when D’Souza himself didn’t even say that.
Not sure we could say the same about Bridgeport. Ganim, who served as mayor from 1991 to 2003, then in prison from 2003 to 2010 after a federal corruption conviction, and then again as mayor since 2015, almost certainly went above and beyond simple “Mules” shit with harvesting ballots – which is illegal in Connecticut – probably sending goons to directly pressure voters inside their homes to fill out the ballots while they were watching if we had to guess. These fucking grimy “machine politics” cities like Bridgeport, Paterson, Philadelphia, and Miami always have something like this going on. Only Miami gets spared the MAGA media’s scrutiny because they’re Republican.
The rest are just lazily turned into ABSOLUTE PROOF that Dems steal elections, never mind that they’re stealing them from each other in local contests no one else gives a shit about. If anything it’s actually very hard to imagine that say, if somehow Connecticut were a swing state, that a corrupt piece of shit like Ganim would want to help steal a presidential election when the scrutiny would absolutely make it harder for him to cheat in his own races during the off-years.
