“Moderate” Republican asshole and Michael Jackson truther New York Congressman Mike Lawler tells Semafor that any efforts to oust Speaker Mike Johnson for failing to meet far right extremists’ unrealistic expectations on spending and border policy would be really bad for the House GOP.
“If they try it, they’re fucking idiots,” Lawler said when asked to comment on “Colonel Sanders” Chip Roy’s hint that he may move to vacate Johnson during a Tuesday interview on some MAGA douchebag’s podcast. Lawler didn’t warn of any consequences though, simply because there are none that he or any of the other “moderates” in the larger caucus are willing to exact upon the handful of rogues who would further weaken Republicans’ extremely tenuous hold on the House.
Others offered the seminal famous last words. “I kind of doubt anyone wants to go through that three-ring circus again,” said an anonymous member. “It would be the dumbest move ever and the counter-reaction from the 95 percent of our conference who want to govern and who know the realities of our Constitutional system and divided government would be fierce,” said another “moderate,” Nebraska Congressman Don Bacon. “I think a lot of members would like to see some new leadership, but the group of people willing to set that series of events in motion is tiny. People don’t want a long drawn-out embarrassing speaker search again,” said a senior aide.
