After failing to approve funding for border security, Republicans in the House intend to bring a new vote to impeach Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas on Tuesday after an earlier effort failed because Republicans can’t count, NBC News reports.
The first effort failed when three conscience-following Republicans joined all Democrats to vote down the effort, which corrupt Republicans scheduled because they thought Texas Democrat Al Green would be absent due to surgery. Green, however, left the hospital and was brought to the floor of the House, casting the vote that shot down the GOP performance art.
Because Republicans need to find a scapegoat for their incompetence, the House GOP will bring a new resolution to impeach Mayorkas to the floor next Tuesday, when House Majority Leader Steve Scalise is supposed to return to work after cancer treatment.
