Democratic New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy will name a former aide to the seat being vacated by convicted Democratic Senator Bob Menendez, filling a spot in a closely divided Senate, Politico reports. George Helmy, a former Murphy aide who also served as a Senate aide to Cory Booker, will take over the seat through the end of the term in January, when the winner of the November election between Democrat Andy Kim and Republican Curtis Bashaw will be seated.
