Dem Illinois Senator Tammy Duckworth tells MS Now that Jesus Dork Speaker of the House Mike Johnson is quietly trying to remove from the next National Defense Authorization Act a provision mandating IVF coverage for all active-duty military members, which was really the only effort convicted felon President Trump’s regime would have made toward fulfilling his campaign pledge to make IVF more accessible/affordable for all Americans, not just actively-serving military.
“After this provision was championed in bipartisan negotiations in both chambers of Congress, it is repugnant that Speaker Mike Johnson is single-handedly working behind closed doors – and against the President’s promise – to rip this provision away from our heroes and their families,” Duckworth, a disabled former Army chopper pilot who lost both of her legs in Iraq and mom to a daughter conceived through IVF, said. “Given how much we already ask them to sacrifice, how dare Mike Johnson demand that they sacrifice their dreams of having a family,” Duckworth added.
A Johnson spokesworm responded saying that “the Speaker has clearly and repeatedly stated he is supportive of access to IVF when sufficient pro-life protections are in place, and he will continue to be supportive when it is done responsibly and ethically.” Which is like saying he supports the military possessing nuclear weapons as long as they don’t cause any radioactive fallout when detonated, as there is no such thing as IVF that isn’t wholly antithetical to the “principles” of forced birtherism.
