Election data eggheads Echelon Insights, whose prediction of the 2020 presidential election turnout came within 1 million of the final tally, have this year estimated an awfully specific and exacting figure of 125,655,745 total ballots cast nationally in the 2022 midterms. Why they have it down to the single digit rather than, say just calling it “125.65 million,” is unclear, but given their track record their estimate should still be pretty close to the final outcome. The figure is 7 million more than the 118.5 million that turned out in 2018, likely keeping parity with 2018 percentage-wise in line with population growth and Americans aging into the electorate.
