The Ukrainian government on Tuesday sent an official letter to Israel asking for air defense systems technology that would allow it to stop Iranian drones and missiles fired from inside Russia and Belarus, Axios reports. Former Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett had opposed the transfer of any defense technology to Ukraine earlier this year out of fear of angering Russia, but that fucker’s been gone since June so maybe Kyiv will have better luck with his successor Yair Lapid.
“According to available information… there is a high probability of prompt deliveries to Russia of Fateh-110 and Zolfaghar ballistic missiles from Iran… Ukraine is highly interested in obtaining from Israel in shortest possible terms defense systems, in particular: Iron Beam, Barak 8, Patriot, Iron Dome, David Sling, Arrow interceptor and Israeli support in training for Ukrainian operators,” said the letter sent to the Israeli Foreign Ministry, adding that practice in the field by Iranians against Ukraine “will significantly contribute in strengthening Iran’s potential of producing offensive weapons and as a result, increase the security threats for Israel and the Middle East… The Ukrainian side expects a positive reaction from Israel to this proposal.”
