Miserable little bastard Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is in a 51 to 49 percent statistical tie with fat former President Trump for the 2024 GOP presidential nomination among Republican respondents to a YouGov survey, while with the full potential field it’s Trump 37 – DeSantis 36.
When matched up against Joe Biden in 2024, Trump trails 46 to 40 percent while DeSantis keeps it much closer, pulling 40 percent to Biden’s 42 percent. It’s still going to be extremely difficult if not impossible for DeSantis to take down Trump, let alone win cleanly with whatever appeal he has to independent voters still intact. This is even before we get into the weeds of all the rules governing the primaries in every state, something Trump has experience with and DeSantis does not.
