Eric Trump texted Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot twice last summer to thank her for sending police to protect a local Trump property during the protests in the aftermath of the murder of Geroge Floyd by police in Minneapolis, according to WTTW politics reporter Heather Cherone who tweeted a screenshot of the text records released by the mayor’s office.
On June 1st Trump sent Lightfoot a text saying “Mrs. Mayor, I am thinking about you. I really appreciated your call on Saturday – it was incredibly kind. I have passed along your support to our team and residences. Please know, I and we truly appreciate you. Eric”. On July 24th he texted again “Mrs. Mayor – know that I have been thinking about you. I still appreciate the call you made to me which was a class act. I only imagine how difficult the situation is but know we are all rooting for Chicago … I hope you are well. Eric T”.
