A chunky middle-aged white guy long considered the prime suspect in the killings of at least 10 people whose remains were discovered in thick brush along a highway on a barrier beach south of Long Island over a decade ago has been arrested, the New York Post reports.
Architect Rex Heuermann, 59, of Massapequa Park, New York was taken into custody early Friday and is reportedly to be charged with the murders of the “Gilgo Four,” though not the other six victims whose bodies were found nearby at this point. “Gilgo Beach” is the small enclave west of the Robert Moses Causeway near where the four women’s bodies were found within days of each other in late 2020. The other six bodies, including that of an unidentified man and a toddler, were dug up after an exhaustive search of the area over the next two years. Sucks for Rex.
