MAGA fascist lawyer John Eastman, aka “Co-Conspirator 2” came clean in an interview last week, admitting he was trying to overthrow the United States government, Talking Points Memo reports.
Not really hiding his argument under any sort of legalese, Eastman might as well be Oath Keepers founder Stewart Rhodes as he told Tom Klingenstein, chair of the board of directors at Eastman’s “think tank,” the Claremont Institute, that the outcome of the 2020 election was an “existential threat to the very survivability, not just of our nation, but of the example that our nation, properly understood, provides to the world… There’s actually a provision in the Declaration of Independence that a people will suffer abuses while they remain sufferable, tolerable while they remain tolerable.
“At some point abuses become so intolerable that it becomes not only their right but their duty to alter or abolish the existing government. So that’s the question. Have the abuses or the threat of abuses become so intolerable that we have to be willing to push back?” Eastman continued.
The Declaration of Independence is not a legal document. It was a political statement asserting that the Thirteen Colonies were no longer under the sovereignty of King George and the founding fathers knew they were signing their own death warrants if their homegrown militias were unable to force British troops back home. Eastman citing it is in effect the same thing: He should be willing to die in prison because his effort to overturn the 2020 election failed. Let’s hope he gets his wish.
