University of Alabama football coach Nick Saban and athletic director Greg Byrne tested positive for coronavirus Wednesday, the University announced, reports ESPN.
“I found out earlier this afternoon that I had tested positive for COVID-19,” the 68-year-old Saban said in a statement. “I immediately left work and isolated at home. At this time, I do not have any symptoms relative to COVID, and I have taken another PCR test to confirm my diagnosis.”
While the coach tested positive, there are no plans to delay this weekend’s football game against the University of Georgia.
The university has tested players daily since September, but only did sporadic testing of the staff around the players. All members of the team, coaches and surrounding staff will be tested Thursday.
