A Canadian green carder whose Facebook posts include “Come at the king, you best not miss” after convicted felon President Trump almost got assassinated last July and “SHARE IF YOU AGREE IT’S TIME WE START ENFORCING IMMIGRATION LAWS,” (lol) making his non-voter support for the Orange God Emperor unambiguous, died in the ICE gulag in Miami on Monday under unclear circumstances after being locked up for six weeks pending deportation, the Miami Herald reports.
Johnny Noviello, 49, had moved from Canada to Daytona Beach when he was 10, growing up in Florida and becoming a legal permanent resident in 1991 but never a citizen. In 2017 he and his father, 80 year-old Angelo Noviello, were arrested for selling oxycodone, hydromorphine, and hydrocodone out of their auto repair shop, ending in a 2023 conviction for Johnny. Without any prior record and evidently it being a small amount, Johnny did four months in the joint and a year on something called “community control,” and had been complying with the rules of his probation. Yet when he showed up for a May 15th appointment with his probie ICE was there waiting to cuff him.
“He was just working, nothing out of the ordinary, no violations, nothing else,” said Dan Leising, Noviello’s attorney in both the 2023 criminal and immigration cases. “There was nothing on my mind that would’ve created any circumstance where Johnny Noviello would have been a danger to anyone,” Leising continued, adding that Noviello was the first ever similarly situated defendant in his 20 years of practice that he had seen detained by ICE, even though he was lawfully subject to deportation as a green carder with a felony conviction. Leising says Noviello suffered from epilepsy and the family had been trying “painstakingly to make sure that he got his meds” while in the gulag.
Noviello is at least the fourth prisoner to die inside of a Florida ICE center this year.
