“The number of police officers killed in the line of duty has fallen by more than 50 percent across the nation so far this year, according to a new report. Analysts chalked up the positive trend to not only better police training but also a shift away from anti-police attitudes since President Trump was reelected last year,” says the lede, emphasis added, to a Tuesday Washington Times article headlined “Sharp drop in police killed on duty credited to Trump-driven shift away from anti-police culture,” shared by the convicted felon president on his shitty Twitter clone on Wednesday.
Yeah, you read that right. The headline asserts that the “Trump-driven shift away from anti-police culture” is solely responsible while the story itself gives it secondary billing after “better police training.” The Times, owned and operated by far-right South Korean messianic cult the Church of the Unification – aka the Moonies – then buries quotes from Bill Alexander, CEO of the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund whose semi-annual report did indeed find a sharp decrease in deaths in the line of duty, quotes themselves that kind of fall short of the article’s pitch.
Per the Times, Alexander “also said Mr Trump’s election last fall marked a culture shift away from the anti-police fervor that was so prominent in the previous five years,” then quoting him directly as saying “The profession writ large was targeted and demonized to, I might argue, an unfair degree.”
“Across almost every line of communication, whether that was popular media, social media, mainstream media, maybe even to a worrying degree from too many of our elected officials, again, targeting the profession. I think that that was having a really detrimental impact on a number of interactions between the public and law enforcement,” Alexander continued in his interview with the outlet – which is owned by a “church” now banned in Japan following the 2022 assassination of former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe by a man whose mother was left destitute from exorbitant tithes.
Fucking worms. Was hoping for some real Kool-Aid as promised by the headline and, like so much else in the MAGA propaganda-industrial complex, it turned out to be a scam. Instead of some shit like “Through sheer divine will alone and without any actual meaningful policy initiatives, President Trump has protected our brave men and women in blue from the violent criminals who wish to do them harm” we got that “culture shift” nonsense that the Times spun into the headline they wanted.
Guess they deserve some credit for at least trying to bring a natural upshot to four years of cuntish agitprop about how it felt like crime was out of control when it really wasn’t – and to whatever degree there was an increase it began during the last year of the fat fuck’s first term.
Fitting that said upshot is complete bullshit too. Nice work here, Moonies, you fucking freaks.
