Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey said in testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee that the social media platform flagged about 300,000 tweets for disinformation regarding the 2020 election, the Associated Press reports.
Not all 300,000 were from outgoing president Donald Trump or his campaign. Trump tweets that were flagged included false statements about mail-in voting and his claims that he won the election.
Both Facebook and Twitter took steps to flag posts that considered obviously false information about the election, the voting process and the election results. Republicans believe these efforts were targeted at conservatives and Trump supporters without acknowledging that republicans were the primary source for lies and disinformation.
