“Unleash this monster and one day it will come for you. And you’ll have no principle to credibly invoke in protest when it does. You’ll be left with nothing more than lame and craven pleading that your friends do not deserve the same treatment as your enemies. Force, not principle, will be the sole factor deciding the outcome,” insufferable wiener Glenn Greenwald wrote in a scathing rant about the cancelation of New York Times contributor and Niskanen fellow Will Wilkinson after he joked on Twitter that Joe Biden should have Mike Pence hanged if he wanted to unify the country.

That was in late January 2021, during a pretty low point for MAGA world – and the start of their long and grueling road back to power. A milestone on that road was Greenwald blocking National Zero on Twitter for mocking the 20 year-ish age gap between him and his (now-deceased) husband.

This, of course, was in the context of when that hippie who got Q-pilled and smashed Paul Pelosi’s skull in with a hammer, something that Greenwald, a one-time fairly normal journo who became a leading voice on anti-anti-Trumpism, had tweeted “It’s very possible that the instantly formed media narrative – Paul Pelosi’s attacker was a MAGA fanatic who broke in to murder Nancy – will be proven true. But right now there are so many glaring doubts and holes in that story that it just takes common sense to question this.” Which, on top of leading to him “canceling” National Zero, was not terribly far off from the kind of thing Jimmy Kimmel said last week before Tyler Robinson’s leftist-ish politics were made public. The “dangerous rhetoric” that led to Jimmy Kimmel’s show being all but certainly actually canceled pending a final confirmation from Disney/ABC’s corporate overlords.

On Friday Greenwald’s fellow edgelord Bari Weiss’s outlet the Free Press reported that “Officials at the White House National Security Council have discussed the government using federal statutes related to ‘treason, sedition, and subversive activities,'” to pursue the destruction of liberal activist groups. Which is funny considering the the vast majority of those two’s work over the previous four years was feeding spandex-wearing grapple-freak Jim Jordan spank material on how the FBI in October 2020 told the pre-Musk Twitter that Hunter’s laptop was being disseminated by Russian intel leading them and Facebook to throttle the New York Post’s story for a day. That was funny when Trump said it was an offense grave enough to warrant the “termination” of “the constitution.” And then there was Greenwald/Weiss’s big scoops on how the Biden Administration would ask Facebook and Twitter to throttle anti-vax content during the tail end of a global pandemic.

Wonder what those daring champions of the First Amendment are thinking now. Could go look at their Twitter feeds, but fuck them. They got what they voted for. And they’ll be fine even though they might be “uncomfortable” with everything they said Biden had done to the Constitution now happening considerably worse, far more blatantly, and because Kimmel made fun of Trump for the last decade rather than in pursuit of public health policy during a deadly pandemic.

At the risk of a very small tangent, the whole dynamic of “every accusation a confession” could not have been epitomized better than the saga of Trump Burger in Texas.

That at the very moment Fox Business News printed a quote from an anonymous employee of the shitty burger chain, who said that the awful reviews for their food by professional restaurant critics “aren’t surprising due to the liberal bent of some news outlets,” at that very moment one of their two managing partners was in an ICE lockup the other was nabbed a few weeks later. A nightmare that began when the Trump Organization sent Trump Burger a cease and desist for using the Trump “brand” without permission… Or exercising their right to free speech about a public figure.

It’s not just that “every accusation is a confession,” it’s that every accusation is a confession of something far worse, more pernicious, more obnoxious, more fucking grating and insufferable.

Something in your face when you try to click on this October 2024 Fox News op-ed to reference it as what in hindsight was a warning sign of the Orange God Emperor’s return to power. Wrote this douchebag David Marcus of a conversation he had with two male zoomers that month “We talked about the state of the country, the things you are or aren’t allowed or supposed to say, and they don’t care about the orthodoxy. The more I talked to these guys the more I realized, they aren’t just anti-woke, they are immune to it. As a Gen Xer, the accusation of racism or bigotry still carries an a priori pang, not so for these gents, they just don’t buy it,” and that “America’s young men have been swimming in a sea of madness for their whole lives, and they know it. And the same people who ask them, ‘Are you absolutely certain what your gender is?’ are shocked to discover they don’t find Trump to be particularly abnormal.” That they were fed up with being told what to say and think and Trump was the magical answer to all the diversity training seminars that they had to sit through.

The Trump Burger founders are probably going to end up getting deported back to the Middle East but the chain will probably live on under new owners. The leftist groups are going to get investigated for something, and they may be crippled but nobody’s going to prison, be real. Those young men might no longer have to sit through DEI training sessions but they sure as shit aren’t going to be able to call their female coworkers bitches or smack their asses whenever they want.

And Starbucks baristas are absolutely not going to fucking like being told they have to write Charlie Kirk’s name on the order for the “tribute drink” (it’s a “Mint Majesty tea with two honey,” not making that up) his fanboys have been buying at the lib-coded “cafe” chain.

This is all going too far, too fast to be sustainable for the MAGA Reich. In just 11 days they unleashed this monster, made it far bigger and hungrier than they can manage and will come for them.
