A federal magistrate judge on Thursday found leftist perennial New York City candidate Brad Lander not guilty of obstruction over a September 2025 incident in which he and other officials were arrested while demanding access to detention cells, WABC reports on a messaging blow to Lander’s unnecessary current campaign against incumbent New York 10th Dem Congressman Dan Goldman.
Lander, who served with fiduciary mediocrity as the city’s comptroller in the lead-up to a failed mayoral campaign whose only real highlight was a June 2025 arrest at the same ICE gulag, probably could’ve used a guilty verdict since a conviction would have helped polish his image as an edgy, renegade outsider fighting against the establishment and all that. Though a recent Emerson poll put Lander ahead at a stupefying 57 to 23 percent, it was an Emerson poll. That coupled with the fact that Lander recently agreed to a second debate against Goldman this month indicates a much tighter race that hopefully one of the Dems’ most vicious congressional rottweilers survives.
