Sitting for an interview with Punchbowl’s Jake Sherman, convicted felon President Trump this week refused to endorse Senate Majority Leader John Thune to continue in the role, saying simply he didn’t “want to get into” the leadership of the chamber, a comment that Sherman seems to have deemed significant. “SAVE America Act is a very important thing,” Trump said, referring of course to his continued insistence that the Senate GOP change the filibuster rules and pass his self-defeating and draconian “election integrity” bill. “John’s trying. He’s trying hard. I really believe that. But if he doesn’t get there, it would be unfortunate,” Trump added, trying to sound like a mafia boss.
On the midterms, Trump questioned whether his fans will actually show up without him on the ballot. “Will those people go out and vote? And that’s the one thing I can’t do. I’m going to ask them to… The question is, will they vote? Because a lot of them are very angry at Republicans, to be honest with you… They’re angry at Republicans, but they’re not angry at me.”
