UPDATE (6:55 p.m.): Enrique Tarrio was arrested by the Metropolitan Police in Washington, DC in connection to the burning last month of Black Live Matter banner that had been hanging outside a historic Black church, the New York Times reports.
According to the Times, “A spokesman for the Metropolitan Police Department confirmed that Mr. Tarrio, 36, had been arrested on charges of destruction of property, stemming from a mid-December incident in downtown Washington. Upon his arrest he was found to be in possession of two high-capacity firearm magazines and charged accordingly with possession.”
In an interview with the Washington Post after the vandalism at the church, Tarrio said unequivocally, “So let me make this simple. I did it.”
It is unclear if Tarrio will face hate crime violations for targeting a Black church with his violent horde of followers.

Enrique Tarrio, chairman of the violent far-right Proud Boys, seems to want to generate a little publicity prior to a rally supporting Donald Trump tomorrow in Washington, DC. USA Today reporter Will Carless tweets that he was on the phone with Tarrio when the car was supposedly pulled over by law enforcement officers.

I’m very skeptical of this until it’s confirmed by, oh, sixty kagillion reliable sources. Tarrio is a friend/student of Roger Stone’s, and he’s likely pulling a publicity stunt to claim to be oppressed by The Deep State.
