“This is one of the ways legal immigration is worse than illegal.”
– The current top comment on Thousands of Immigrants to Secure U.S. Citizenship to Vote in 2020 Election, both written almost as if to imply that naturalized immigrants should somehow be exempt from the right to vote, as if electing Trump in 2016 was supposed to make immigration go away and they’re offended over being reminded that it didn’t, as if they didn’t feel like they should have to change the Republican party to be more welcoming to newly minted citizens to sustain them electorally in the future.
Actually that last one isn’t really hypothetical. Neither were the first two, come to think of it.
