- Can someone clarify if Republicans voting Liz Cheney out of House Party leadership was “virtue signaling” or “cancel culture”?
- Schadenfreude, thy name is Matt Gaetz. It’s doubtful, but not impossible, that he’ll travel to Wyoming to campaign against Cheney again.
- Lifting the mask mandate is a major accomplishment in the pandemic. Is it too soon? Only time will tell, but I trust the judgement of the scientists in this administration more than the politicians in the last one.
- Republicans introduced legislation against transgender teens getting any type of medical treatment, claiming that it’s irreversible mutilation of the body, but they’ve never discussed teen girls getting fake boobs, botox or nose jobs. This is the Ivanka Trump exception to their outrage.
- A private pipeline company, primarily owned by foreign interests, gets hacked because of its poor IT security. Conservative propaganda media call it a major crisis–A gas shortage! National security failure!–and people hoard gas, causing an actual gas shortage. The problem is solved in six days, and that same media don’t say a word.
- Suddenly, Republicans are all-in on regulating companies. The difference between their position and the Democrats’: the GOP wants to regulate private companies which have corporate rules about content; Democratic-supported regulations relate to things like pollution, safety and civil rights.
- Next up for anti-maskers at restaurants: “I don’t want to wear a shirt or shoes! Making me violates my FREEDUMS!!!”
- It’s still amazing to me that on the right night, you can see something the length of a football field soaring 400 miles above the planet.
- I just learned of a 2018 exposé of Laura Ingraham, based on interviews with her older brother. As the editor of a conservative student paper at Dartmouth–y’know, one of those elite schools–she sent a reporter, pretending to be gay, to secretly ID and record a support group for gay students. She then published their names and contacted their parents, outing at least one student. Ingraham may now say that she supports LGBTQ rights (which I don’t believe for a second), but someone that vile does not change how she operates. It’s an innate part of her personality.
- Do we know if Marjorie Taylor Green finished reading the 12 page Green New Deal plan she promised to do last week, or did her lips get too tired two paragraphs in.
- Homemade cookies (in order): Oatmeal scotchies, ginger snaps, toll house, chocolate chip. And yes, toll house cookies are different from chocolate chip, and no, “sheet cookies” don’t count. (My wife says my chocolate biscotti are the best, but biscotti aren’t cookies in my book.)
- DO NOT use plastic bags when you hoard gasoline. Use paper. Be environmentally friendly.
- I’m just gonna leave this right here. It’s prescient:
I don't think @realDonaldTrump is a Republican. I don't believe he's a conservative. I think he would destroy a party I care a lot about.
