Recently Trump sychophant Kevin McCarthy (GQP – CA) tried to claim that current President Joe Biden “doesn’t have the same energy as Trump“, and boasted that Trump “barely sleeps”. This kind of rhetoric is based upon traditional Protestant notions that you should be up and working as much as you can, and that laziness is sign of weak moral character. There’s a major problem with the GOP rhetoric though. For someone Donald Trump’s age, an inability to sleep is associated with the onset of dementia and is also a symptom that typically appears in the early stages of Alzheimer’s disease.
There are numerous examples of Trump demonstrating irate and manic behaviors over the course of the last six years, and claims of the former guy being “high energy” are not a compliment when he’s demonstrating a high level of manic energy combined with obvious confusion, incoherent thought processes and obvious problems with behavioral and emotional control.
Biden on the other hand goes to bed early, does not demonstrate any sundowning behaviors, and does not appear to be suffering from any neurological symptoms or tremors that impair his ability to walk up a ramp or hold a glass of water. He does occasionally trip going up steep stairs, but that’s because he jogs up the stairs like a guy who acts like a big kid and kind of refuses to acknowledge that he’s getting older. Trying to compare Biden missing a step while boarding air force one to Trump’s obvious neurological symptoms is a ridiculous false equivalency.
It’s definitely time for the media to start calling out the GQP on this issue. Irate and manic behaviors are not the same thing as being “high energy”, and no one should be taking the Q-publican party’s claims seriously. What the Q-publicans and the country as a whole should be doing is realizing that it’s way past time to pack Trump up and ship him off to the home. Donald Trump’s father had Alzheimer’s and Donald is showing obvious symptoms as well. He needs to be evaluated by a medical professional, not run as a candidate for the Country’s highest office.
