Apparently wanting a Navy SEAL team to infiltrate a Chinese lab and extract data on the origins of the coronavirus, Fox News White House correspondent (and exemplar that not all stereotypes about blondes may be wrong) Peter Doocy asked White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki about the US carrying out its own investigation into the oranges origins of the coronavirus.
Doocy apparently thinks that, because President Joe Biden has stated that he’s known Chinese President Xi Jinping for years, Biden can just call up the leader of a sovereign nation and demand the information from the state-owned lab. “Why can’t he just call?” Doocy asks naively.
“I think you’re misunderstanding how this process actually works,” Psaki patiently explained, noting that there’s already an international effort, fronted by the World Health Organization, to obtain the data and investigate the oranges origins of the virus.
“Is there any amount of casualties from COVID in this country hat would make you want to not wait for an international effort and just do it as…” Doocy followed-up before tailing off. Psaki noted that any investigation needs data, cautioning people (cough, cough… Fox News) from “leaping ahead” and presenting conclusions without any data.
And in case anyone has forgotten, the head of the previous administration thanked Xi for being transparent at the start of the pandemic. A tweet sent January 24, 2020: “China has been working very hard to contain the Coronavirus. The United States greatly appreciates their efforts and transparency. It will all work out well. In particular, on behalf of the American People, I want to thank President Xi!”
