President Barack Obama tweeted a preview of his production company’s new series on civics created for Netflix, “Higher Ground: We The People,” which uses music and animation to educate viewers in seemingly much the same way as SchoolHouse Rock did for children in the 1970s and 1980s.
“Michelle and I are excited to share our latest show from Higher Ground: We The People. Some of our favorite artists got together with amazing animators to remix civics—and the result is a lot better than what we had in school. Check it out on @Netflix this July 4,” Obama tweeted.
The 10-episode series was done in collaboration with Doc McStuffins creator Chris Nee, according to Deadline. Each episode will be a three-minute lesson on civics and government utilizing different styles of animation and music. Artists who participated in producing the series include The series features original songs performed by artists including H.E.R., Janelle Monáe, Brandi Carlile, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Adam Lambert, Cordae, Bebe Rexha, KYLE, Andra Day and poet Amanda Gorman.
