In a letter sent to the board of directors of News Corporation and filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission, James R. Murdoch, the 47-year-old son of Rupert Murdoch, announced his resignation from the company board effective immediately.
“My resignation is due to disagreements over certain editorial content published by the Company’s news outlets and certain other strategic decisions,” Murdoch said in the resignation letter.
The younger Murdoch has openly clashed with his father’s political views and the obvious conservative slant of his father’s media properties. James Murdoch and his wife, Kathryn, have each given $615,000 to the campaign of presumptive Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden and his affiliated DNC fundraising operations.
