An order from the District of Columbia Court of Appeals declares that Rudy Giuliani’s law license is hereby suspended in Washington DC for violations of rules 11(d) and 14 of the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure.
The Federal Rules of Civil Procedure outline standards of behavior and process for lawyers. FCRP 11(d) deals specifically with false pleadings submitted to the court. Rule 14 has to do with “third party practice” and the complaint against Giuliani could be fashioned in a number of ways. It’s better to wait to see what further filings the court presents rather than try to speculate how that could go, but a good rough definition of “third party practice” complaints are “sticking his nose in where it doesn’t belong and then not even managing to file paperwork to support his claims in a timely fashion”.
