Beyond the more obvious violations of the spirit and letter of the law, there aren’t a lot of examples in my experience with the notoriously capricious and arbitrary moderation of the comments on The Hill of discernible patterns emerging in which comments they do and don’t delete. Today, however there’s definitely one showing up. Three of my comments in the last ten days overtly or implicitly critical of Ron DeSantis have been deleted by the moderators:
Now as you can see there’s no profanity, vulgarity, or otherwise inappropriate content in them, and this also sure doesn’t look like the old “Most upvoted comment gets automatically deleted because MAGA assholes flagged it X amount of times”, because I looked in the Disqus API and found that each of them were only flagged once or twice. My comments on The Hill get flagged all the time and they don’t get deleted unless the 25 minimum flag threshold is crossed. The moderator deliberately removed these and the only reasonable conclusion we can make is that they’re getting overly cunty and sensitive when someone badmouths their precious Ronnie Boy.
