A relief pitcher for the Milwaukee Brewers knocked himself out of the playoffs by breaking his pitching hand after a celebration of the team winning the National League Central division, the Associated Press reports.
“After our celebration, I went out to have a few drinks,” 27-year-old Devin Williams said Wednesday. “On my way home, I was a little frustrated and upset, and I punched a wall. That’s how it happened.”
Williams, the 2020 National League Rookie of the Year, will likely require surgery to fix the injury. The right-hander was a set-up man for the Brewers, appearing in 54 games this year.
