A number of Ukrainian government websites were taken down in a major cyberattack Friday as the country stands on the brink of possible invasion by Russia, the AP reports. “Be afraid and expect the worst. This is for your past, present and future,” said a message on the hacked websites, warning Ukrainians’ personal data had been leaked. The sites have been at least partially restored, claimed Ukraine Vice Prime Minister Mykhailo Fedorov, who added “the operability of the websites, not the registries,” was what was affected, not the personal info stored on in the databases. More than 100,000 Russian troops remain stationed on the Russian side of the border as peace talks continue to go from bad to worse, with one Russian diplomat calling it a “dead end” on Thursday.
