A federal judge issued an injunction freezing a Trump administration rule that rolled back protections for transgender patients, citing a Supreme Court ruling providing workplace discrimination protections to LGBTQ people, Politico reports.
Frederic Block, a Senior United States District Judge of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York, issued the stay one day before it was to go into effect. The case will go to the Supreme Court for final decision.
In Bostock v. Clayton County, Ga, Block wrote, SCOTUS “concluded that such discrimination ‘has always been prohibited by Title VII’s plain terms,’ and that ‘that should be the end of the analysis.’ Bostock was decided in 6-3 decision.
