The UNC Chapel Hill campus has now reported more than 500 students with coronavirus according to the university’s public COVID dashboard, the Washington Post reports.
In just one week, Chapel Hill has seen positivity rates for tests jump from 13% to 33%. The university had intended to begin in-person classes last Monday, August 17th, but switched to online education as the number of coronavirus cases exceeded the campus’s capacity to handle isolation and quarantine.
In total, more than 780 tested positive for the coronavirus, with about 280 of those being reported by students prior to reporting to campus.
