Should anyone need to be disabused of this notion, Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer’s replacement, Justice-designate Ketanji Brown Jackson, was confirmed by the Senate nearly 3 months ago, prior to his officially effected retirement on Thursday. Barring the sudden death or retirement of another justice this year, there won’t be “another circus before the midterms”.
