He didn’t quit, I fired him! Next time let him go in as a Democrat, not a Republican,” after Siebert resigned under pressure to bring a fake prosecution against New York Attorney General Letitia James for mortgage fraud… a “case” for which he brought as many as 15 witnesses in front of a grand jury.

Cops in Sacramento on Saturday announced they had arrested a 64 year-old local man named Anibal Hernandez-Santana after he allegedly fired at least three rounds into the lobby of the building housing the California capital’s ABC affiliate KXTV on Friday, NBC affiliate KCRA reports.

Hernandez-Santana’s political motive – or whether he actually had one – was unclear. The station, owned by affiliate chain Tegna, was the target of protests this week after Jimmy Kimmel’s show was canceled and thus, maybe not coincidentally, one of the affiliates that will be acquired by right-wing conglomerate Nexstar in a $6.4 billion deal that requires approval from the MAGA reich’s FCC.

Experiencing some sort of mental episode on Friday, Republican Texas Senator Ted Cruz told his podcast audience that what the Trump Regime just did to Jimmy Kimmel is “dangerous as hell” and warned that “If the government gets in the business of saying ‘We don’t like what you, the media have said, we’re going to ban you from the airwaves if you don’t say what we like,’ that will end up bad for conservatives,” the Dallas Express reports on a troubling development.

Even more disconcerting is that Cruz was apprehensive enough to break kayfabe by accurately characterizing this as the first true instance of government censorship, thereby negating about three fucking years of “cancel culture” and “Hunter’s laptop” shit that spandex-wearing grapple-freak Jim Jordan wasted a mind-melting amount of time and energy spittling angrily over. That very isolated precursors like the Biden Administration quietly requesting that Amazon throttle anti-vax books during the tail end of a deadly global pandemic maybe weren’t something to get that worked up over in contrast to the present a slowly dying autocrat crushing comedic dissent.

Dem Arizona Congresswoman Yaasmin Ansari on Friday emerged from the House Oversight Committee’s still-ongoing deposition of former federal prosecutor and then convicted felon President Trump’s first Labor Secretary Alex Acosta to tell CNN that Acosta is being less than credible in his answers about his decision to go easy on Donald’s friend Jeffrey Epstein, with Ansari saying Acosta believes “justice was served” in that case and that he’d done nothing wrong in reaching the deal that allowed Jeff to exit a local jail on “work release” to continue abusing girls.

Right off the bat the problem with Acosta believing he’d done nothing wrong is that the reason he resigned from Trump’s cabinet in 2019 was because of the goddamned Epstein case. That piece of shit literally freaking said “I do not think it is fair for this administration’s Labor Department to have Epstein as its focus rather than the incredible economy we have today. The right thing was to step aside,” when announcing his resignation. If that wasn’t consciousness of guilt then it was an acknowledgement that the way he handled an important case in his old job was at the very least pretty goddamned problematic and thus resigning was, in his own words, the “right thing to do.”

The House on Friday canceled votes for September 29 and 30, which Punchbowl News’s John Bresnahan reports mean a government shutdown barring a “major reversal.” The continuing resolution bill also either failed just now or is about to fail in the Senate.

Hungarian dictator Viktor Orban on Thursday told state media radio station he’s following his friend convicted felon president Trump’s lead and is designating Antifa as a terrorist group, CNN reports.

“Antifa is a terrorist organization. The time has also come in Hungary for organizations like Antifa to be classified as terrorist organizations, following the American example,” which is a nice tribute as it’s coming the same week Trump’s been following the Orban example.

The pleader initially alleges an electoral victory by President Trump ‘in historic fashion’ – by ‘trouncing’ the opponent – and alludes to ‘persistent election interference from the legacy media, led most notoriously by the New York Times.’ The pleader alludes to ‘the halcyon days’ of the newspaper but complains that the newspaper has become a ‘fullthroated mouthpiece of the Democrat party,’ which allegedly resulted in the ‘deranged endorsement’ of his principal opponent in the most recent presidential election.”

“The reader of the complaint must labor through allegations, such as ‘a new journalistic low for the hopelessly compromised and tarnished ‘Gray Lady.’ The reader must endure an allegation of ‘the desperate need to defame with a partisan spear rather than report with an authentic looking glass’ and an allegation that ‘the false narrative about ‘The Apprentice’ was just the tip of Defendants’ melting iceberg of falsehoods.’ Similarly, in one of many, often repetitive, and laudatory (toward President Trump) but superfluous allegations, the pleader states, ”The Apprentice’ represented the cultural magnitude of President Trump’s singular brilliance, which captured the zeitgeist of our time.”

Convicted felon President Trump has ordered the firing of US Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia Erik Siebert for refusing to bring charges against New York Attorney General Letitia James over the bullshit “mortgage fraud” allegation concerning a home in the Old Dominion State in 2023 that is currently occupied by her niece, the Washington Post’s Carol Leonnig reports.

ABC broke the news late Thursday, building on their reporting from earlier in the day but had characterized this as more of failure – as Siebert definitely tried with as many as 15 witnesses brought before a grand jury – rather than the apparent direct insubordination of not pursuing a dead-end case that Leonnig describes writing “This is frightening prosecutors far and wide – as [Siebert] was seen as loyal to Trump team and simply didn’t see a basis to bring criminal case.”

The New York Post reports that Grammy-winning country singer-songwriter Brett James and two other occupants were killed when a single-engine Cirrus SR22T plane crashed in Macon County, North Carolina on Thursday afternoon. While it’s not 100 percent clear he was behind the “wheel,” the aircraft was registered to James. His credits included the headline 2006 Carrie Underwood hit for which the jokes write themselves, Taylor Swift’s “A Perfectly Good Heart,” Brantley Gilbert’s “Bottoms Up” and Rascal Flatts’ “Summer Nights,” and a shit ton of other hits that were scarcely if ever heard on terrestrial radio stations in the New York City region over the last few decades.

MAGA Louisiana Congresswoman Julia Letlow, who won an early 2021 special after her husband Congressman-elect Luke Letlow died of COVID in late 2020 before he could take office, is “seriously considering” a primary challenge to incumbent Senator Bill Cassidy, one of the very few remaining Republicans who voted to convict Trump in his second impeachment trial, NBC News reports.

Better yet, sources say that Letlow has “received encouragement from the White House to jump into the race” against Cassidy, a physician who opposed Bobby Brainworms’s nomination to Health and Human Services Secretary until Cassidy caved to pressure from the Reich and voted yes. All the caveats about this being anonymously-sourced, that maybe it’s coming from some faction in the White House that has less clout than another that has thus far prevented the Orange God Emperor from publicly annihilating Cassidy’s future in the Senate for nearly five years now, does anyone really disbelieve that would be the outcome? That Cassidy voted with his conscience in 2021, then was forced to eat shit in 2025 on the vague hope that it would spare him from the fat fuck’s wrath, only to be destroyed thereafter anyway? Trump ain’t endorsing Susan Collins but he sure as hell also isn’t endorsing a hardcore MAGA primary challenger to run against her… Probably.

Still, Louisiana ain’t Maine and Bill Cassidy is not Susan Collins. In fact it’s easy to imagine the only reason Trump has held back on backing a challenge is that nobody had stepped up yet. Until now.

New York City Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s team tell Axios that the object of seven years of MAGA media obsession is running for either the Senate – or president – in 2028.

The latter option is, um, a tad ambitious for a woman who would be 39 on January 20, 2029, but the allies say that winning isn’t necessarily the point so much as “to ensure that the Democratic Party’s progressive wing is represented in the primary — just as Sanders did in 2016 against Hillary Clinton.”

Remember how that ended up working out with the Dem voter base in the general election that year? So yeah, in all likelihood that would be very stupid for the country and AOC herself. Basically free Senate seats don’t exactly just open up every cycle and this one is definitely a gimme for AOC, whether the then almost 80 year-old Chuck Schumer runs for reelection or not. Even entertaining a 2028 run – rather than securing herself a higher perch in Congress and then working toward a 2036 or 2040 bid – kind of stains AOC’s otherwise exceptional political talents with the tar of hubris.

“A new Emerson College Polling survey of California voters finds 51 percent plan to vote in favor of Proposition 50 in the November special election, which would authorize temporary changes to congressional district maps. Thirty-four percent plan to vote no, and 15 percent are undecided.”

“Support for Prop 50 is higher among those ‘very likely’ to vote in the November special election, 55 percent of whom plan to vote yes and 35 percent no,” says Emerson’s write-up of their polling.
