Ghislaine Maxwell, the British socialite accused of being child trafficker Jeffrey Epstein’s recruiter and madam, has been arrested by the FBI.
She faces numerous charges relating to Epstein’s child sex ring, according to The New York Times:
The federal indictment, unsealed on Thursday in the Southern District of New York, charged Ms. Maxwell with six counts: enticing minors to travel to engage in illegal sex acts, transportation of a minor with intent to engage in sexual activity, two conspiracy counts related to those charges and two counts of perjury.
The federal indictment states that Maxwell “assisted, facilitated , and contributed to Jeffrey Epstein’s abuse of minor girls by among other things, helping Epstein to recruit, groom , and ultimately abuse victims known to Maxwell and Epstein to be under the age of 18 .”
Epstein was arrested on child trafficking and other charges in July 2017. He was found hanging, dead, in his Manhattan prison cell about four weeks later. His sex ring has allegedly been connected to legal pundit Alan Dershowitz and British royal Prince Andrew.
In a 2002 New York Magazine interview, Donald Trump spoke highly of Epstein: “I’ve known Jeff for fifteen years. Terrific guy. He’s a lot of fun to be with. It is even said that he likes beautiful women as much as I do, and many of them are on the younger side.”
