Roger Stone, whose prison sentence for various federal charges related to obstructing justice was recently commuted by President Trump days before he was schedule to report to prison, used a racial slur directed toward a radio host interviewing him, according to the New York Times.
In a phone interview on the Mo’Kelly Show on KFI-AM 640 in Los Angeles, host Morris Kelly asked Stone why Stone thought that of all the people who request presidency clemency, his case was addressed by Trump.
“There are thousands of people treated unfairly daily, how your number just happened to come up in the lottery, I am guessing it was more than just luck, Roger, right?” Mo’Kelly asked.
Stone started speaking indecipherably, possibly to someone in the room with him, but can clearly be heard stating, “…“arguing with this Negro.”
Mo’Kelly asked Stone to repeat what he said, to which Stone sighed audibly and stayed silent for about forty seconds. Stone then pretended that they had a bad phone connection, and denied ever saying the words.
“I did not, you’re out of your mind,” Stone averred.
Unfortunately for Stone, radio stations record broadcasts, and KFI posted the segment of the show containing the slur here. You can hear the relevant interchange at about the 12:30 mark of the recording.
The interview continued on for another 20 minutes after Stone made the slur, with Mo’Kelly asking Stone about future plans and Stone prattling on about Reagan and drugs and how oppressed he’s been.
