On Hannity, one of the network’s show hosted by a Fox “News” personality recently accused of sexual harassment, Lindsey Graham quoted an email from Peter Strzok about not the FBI not being aware of anyone from the Trump campaign being in contact with Russian intelligence agencies.
“If he wrote that memo on February 17th,” Graham asked, “what happened between February 17th and May when Mueller was appointed?”
Apparently, Graham, the chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee, didn’t remember that Mueller was appointed because Donald Trump had fired FBI Director James Comey on May 9, 2017 after he refused to shut down the investigation into the Russian interference in the 2016 election.
Mueller was mandated to not just investigate Russian meddling in the election and potential coordination between the Russians and the Trump campaign; Mueller was also charged with looking into interference into the investigation, “such as perjury, obstruction of justice, destruction of evidence, and intimidation of witnesses.”
