While his father demands that schools open fully in the Fall to spur economic growth despite coronavirus threats, Barron Trump’s private school in a Montgomery County suburb will not fully open for the first term, instead considering either a hybrid model or all-remote learning, Newsweek reports.

14-year-old Barron Trump attends St. Andrew’s Episcopal School, a private school in Potomac, Maryland, where Melania’s parents live, which sent a notice to students’ parents telling them it is considering its options to keep students and staff safe.

If the school operates on a hybrid model, only a portion of students would be on campus on any given day, while the other students will either attend online classes or have unsupervised homework.

Presumably both Melania and Donald Trump both read the letter and were advised of the school’s decision.  It is unknown whether the Trumps will withdraw Barron from the school, as parents who want their children to attend in-classroom education should do, as Trump said in a press briefing this afternoon.

Trump said in today’s briefing that he wants federal money steered to parents, not schools, if schools cannot open in the Fall so parents can decide what to do with their children, WUSA-DC9 reports.

“If schools do not reopen, the funding should go to parents to send their children to the public, private, charter, religious or home school,” Trump stated.  “All families should be empowered to make the decision that is right for their circumstance.”
