Two weeks after hitting its peak in new cases, Texas set a state record for daily coronavirus fatalities Thursday, registering 340 new deaths, as the US topped more than 68,000 new reported daily cases, according to worldometers.info.
Florida, Texas and California led the nation in daily reported new coronavirus cases, and for the first time in weeks, the data aggregator did not register a single state with more than 10,000 cases today.
However, four states–Texas, Florida, California and Arizona–registered more than 100 fatalities Thursday. Florida had 252; Arizona, 172; and California, 114.
Worldwide, both Brazil and India reported more than 50,000 new coronavirus cases Thursday, marking larger outbreaks in each country.
